The poet has observed the sower closely. Express in your own words the reverence the poet has for the sower.
Answer:- The poet realizes that the old farmer is staying a bit in the farm. The poet fills thrill seeing that he does not end his work just because others may have ended their work. The poet feels wonder and respect at his dark working figure. The poet is lost in thoughts (muses) and expresses the glory of the farmer's work which touches the starry skies (as his work provides food to all).
A2.Analysis.
Explain: - "Old, in rags, he patient stands."
Answer:- The word 'old' shows age and experience of the farmer. The words ‘in rags' indicate the poverty of the farmer. The word 'patient’ expresses that the farmer is ready to wait for the crop to grow. With the anticipation of the good harvest the farmer is working peacefully in the farm.
A3.Personal response.
Write down the essential things required for sowing seeds in the farm.
Answer:- The essential things required for sowing seeds in the farm are:

4) Moisture in the land

Find and write any two examples of personification from the extract. Give their explanation.
Answer:- Examples of Personification:-

Explanation:- Human quality of dying is given to sunlight.
2) Shadows run across the lands.
Explanation:- Human quality of running is given to the shadows
3) Black and high, his silhouette, dominate the furrows deep!
Explanation:- Dominating someone is human quality, given to the silhouette.
4) Twilight hastens on to the rule.
Explanation:- Hastening is a human quality. It is given to the non-human object Twilight.

His height seems to touch the starry skies.
Explanation:- Starry Skies never be touched by height of the person.

Darkness deepens, Fades the light.
Explanation:- Opposite ideas Darkness and light are used.

Twilight hastens on to rule. (Explain this line)
Answer:- ‘Twilight hastens on to rule' means that the sun is about to set beyond the horizon and the soft glow of the setting sun spreads everywhere. This glow of the light will remain only for a few time as the darkness of the night covers it completely. So the twilight is running to stay as long as possible to stay (rule) on the land.
A3. Personal Response.
Give your observations about the activities carried out by the farmer in the farm.
Answer:- The activities that the farmer carried out in the farm are:- Ploughing, cultivation of the land, furrowing, sowing, weeding, irrigating, harvesting etc.

1) Theme of the poem:- ‘The Sower’ is a poem about the hard work and persistence of the sower. The poet observes his actions and expresses his respect for the former who is doing this noble task.
2) Poetic devices used in the poem:- The poetic devices used in the poem include the figures of speech like Alliteration, Antithesis, Hyperbole, Inversion, Personification, Repetition etc. The word imagery "Shadows run across the lands” presents clear picture of natural phenomenon. These devices enhance the beauty of the poem.
3) Message of the poem:- The poem shows the good qualities like determination, hard work, perseverance etc. The poem gives the message that one should keep working with a positive attitude in life as it brings good results in the coming future.
4) Your opinion about the poem: - I like the poem very much. It presents the positive and respectful picture of the farmer. I also appreciate the qualities of the farmer that are depicted in this poem. I want to acquire these qualities and positive approach to develop my life.
