13. View and Counter view

View: It is the statement about any topic. It is also called debate for motion. Here all the supportive good points of the view statements are given.

Counter view: It is the negative statement of the view topic. It is also called debate against motion. In counterview all the bad points of the view topic are given. In the counter view write a paragraph that goes against the points given in the view section. Do not write points in the counter view.

Note that -

a) Include all relevant points.

b) Put points forcefully.

c) Provide data and statistics to prove points.

d) Give information but don't preach.

e) Use easy language and correct sentences.

f) Do not offend any person.

g) Do not put forward any political, racial or such statement.

1) Prepare a paragraph to be used for the counter view section on the following

     topic: "Science is a curse to Human Beings”

     You can take the help of the following points included in the view section.
    “Science is Blessing to Human Beings”
Ø  It has helped man to make progress in many areas.
Ø  It has given man many facilities.
Ø  It increases the efficiency and speed of man.
Ø  It made man powerful in this universe.
Ø  It increases life span of man.

“Science is a curse to Human Beings”

             Science is called as blessing to human beings. But it is not real. In fact science made man's life so terrible that it should be called a curse to human beings.

        Though science helped man in his progress, it also led man's life in threat. The weapons like nuclear bomb, pistols, rifles, guns and other armaments become hazard to human life. The facilities which science provides to man many time makes man makes man idle and lazy. Science increased the speed of work but also resulted in loss of enjoyment and jobless workers. The balance of Nature is overthrown by man with the help of science. There is increase in various kinds of pollution and environmental problems due to science. Man loose his peace of mind and become a machine. The development in medicine also led to the destruction of female babies before the birth. Some medicines also have serious side effects. Seeing all these points it can be said that science is a curse to human being.

 
2) Prepare a paragraph for a counterview section on the topic:
“Sports should be optional in Colleges”
You can take help of the following points in the 'view section
a) Heavy burden of studies                              

b) No time for sports
c) More importance to academics success   

d) Lack of proper infrastructure
Ans:

“Sports should be compulsory in Colleges”

            I do not agree with the above mentioned statement that ‘Sports should be optional in colleges'. Whether it is a school or a college, students have a lot to gain from sports. It removes stress from hard studies. It also keeps the students very active and fit. Sports help in inculcating many important qualities like team-work, determination, self-confidence, leadership, reasoning, endurance etc. These things play an important role in the development of an individual's personality.

          Often, more emphasis on studies suppresses the need for sports in a student's life. Institutions should allot some time for sports for the benefit of the students. Young students are full of energy and it is vital to give way to their energy in the right direction. Also, providing a platform to raw talent would lead to the discovery of great sportspersons, who may bring honours to the nation in the near future. There should be proper time schedule for sports activities. Though academic success is more important, healthy body and active personality is also essential. Sound mind stays in sound body. There is no problem of infrastructure as it is essential for each college to develop facilities for sports activities. Government is supporting sports by giving extra marks for achieving great success in competitions. Sports provides an overall learning experience for any individual, hence, it should be made compulsory in colleges.

    "Entrance Tests are a Burden to Students”. 

     You can take help of the following points in the 'view' section.

     “Entrance tests are essential to students”.
a) Solution for mass copy problem                        

b) Good test to check Intellectual level of students
c) Same question paper structure and format     

d) Fair chance to all the students to qualify.

         Entrance tests are started to stop mass copy, but it is not suitable way to stop it. In the board exam everyone should help to stop the mass copy. If copy free exams are there, we will not need of entrance tests. Entrance tests do not test the writing skill of the students so it is not good test to test the Intellectual level of students. Sometimes the answers are chosen by probability. So it is not the correct test to justify the intellectual level of the students. Though the structure and format are said to be similar in these entrance tests, it is not true. So many question sets are used for different sessions of the exam. It violets the difficulty level. So it may be an injustice to few students. So it is not giving a fair chance to all the students to qualify for the specific course.
